New York venture capitalist Steve Brotman argues that every start-up CEO should carry a Blackberry for responding quickly to partners and customers. Quite frankly, he says, "not carrying a Blackberry is stupid." By some estimates, a Blackberry ("the essential CEO tool") could save a high-priced executive close to 40 hours a month. The productivity argument is so compelling, says Brotman, that he's "contemplated making all our CEOs carry a Blackberry as part of our term sheet, no joke."
Hey, lay off the Crackberry, yuppies!!
Permalink to CommentI just bought one of these two weeks ago. It's truly a marvel. All the things I can do sitting in line, traffic, at home, etc.....
My secretary even commented how quickly I'm responding to emails. It's incredible how that doesn't happen when you're not in the office, huh?
I just got mine yesterday.I already love it, I agree everyone should have one.
Permalink to CommentEfficiency doesn't revolve around one tool. Its an attitude. If you can't prioritize your day in such a way that allows you to timely complete your tasks within the given timespan, maybe you shouldn't be leading a company. A 10 hour work day with the correct person at the helm is more than enough. Anyone who works more doesn't prioritize enough or doesn't have the proper support staff.
Permalink to CommentI agree with relaxed CEO - Everyone is in a hurry to mix every piece of their day together, which has the potential for more stress and possibly less organization if you ask me. I of course carry an HP iPaq 6315 with me everywhere I go that is connected to my corporate network, but I know when it's time to shut it off and call it a day.
It's all about a balance really.
Permalink to CommentThe best thing for my crackberry is News inMotion (http://www.newsinmotion.net) I get daily news updates from yahoo and nytimes formated for viewing on the crackB emailed to me for free.
Blackberry is old news, my friends. If you want cutting edge technology without putting a toaster to your ear check out http://www.good.com
Permalink to CommentI agree that BB is old news, I use my Palm Treo 600 and it blows away the piece of crap BB device. I have so many more applications and I use Goodlink to access all my Outlook functions in real time without cradling.
Permalink to CommentI happen to be in the business of marketing and selling Blackberry's and Treo's. In terms of wireless e-mail, the Blackberry wins hands down. If your need is more for editing documents and attachments, the Treo might be more user friendly.
